Prerna Sonthalia Goradia
Prerna Sonthalia Goradia is the founder director of a consulting company researching and proposing new cost-effective and environmentally friendly process chemistry solutions for industries such as aerospace, automotive, electronics and semiconductor. She is part of the Applied Materials India Research and Development center at IIT-Bombay.
In a past position with a US company she spearheaded new product development in process chemistry for memory and logic device production for large semiconductor companies. She has also worked at at a start-up nanotechnology company developing carbon nanotube based sensor technology for water quality monitoring. Prerna has been a research associate of the National Academy of Sciences at the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, USA.
Awards & Achievements:
- She graduated from the Michigan State University in 2004 with a doctoral degree in analytical chemistry (emphasis: materials chemistry, electrochemistry and environmental toxicology). The group adapted the technological findings of her dissertation research for applications aboard the International Space Station.
- She is the author/ co-author of several US and European patents as well as peer reviewed journal articles.
In the future Prerna is looking to provide structured leadership to new scientific endeavors in the field of chemistry. Specifically, promote private- sector enterprise in specific areas incorporating material science and nanotechnology. Prerna is a fun-loving mother of two who is serious about science.
